Packing for a European or International Move

Lund Conlon has as many years of experience in moving people to Europe and Internationally as it has within the UK.

The packing process is largely the same for moves further afield, however, extra padding and covering will be used to minimize movement during transport.

As the packing commences, the team will complete a comprehensive inventory of all your belongings as each box is filled or item wrapped.

Our experienced pre-move surveyor will provide you beforehand with the customs regulations pertaining to your destination country.

Depending on where in the world your consignment needs to go, your effects could travel by sea, air, or road.

International consignments are generally containerised, and sent by sea.

Journey times vary according to country, but, it can take several weeks for your consignment to arrive at its destination countries port of entry.

It is vital that everything is secure and well packed as these large vessels often encounter rough seas.

Long road journeys are also subject to a lot of vibration which can sometimes result in load shifting. Protecting and securing the load tightly is  imperative.

Insurance

At Lund Conlon we pride ourselves on delivering a first-class service.

However, no matter how meticulously our moves are carried out, there are risks involved which are outside our control. Transporting your consignment is a classic example.

Whilst we may have packed and loaded your effects with utmost care and attention, there is always a possibility, however slight, that an accident could occur whilst they are in transit.

This is why we offer our customers insurance cover.

If you provide us with an insurance declaration of the value of your goods, the amount of our liability to you in the event of loss or damage to those goods will be a maximum of £50,000.

We can accept insurance liability for a higher amount, in which case we may make an additional charge.

If you decide not to take out any insurance with us, you may find your own house insurance has some form of cover for goods in transit.

For anything we move for you which is not covered by either your own or our insurance, in the event of any loss or damages, caused by negligence or breach of contract on our part.

Our liability to you will be assessed as a sum equivalent to the cost of their repair or replacement, subject to a maximum liability of £40 per item.

Rushden Lakes. Situated in Rushden, 20 minutes away, it is one of Northamptonshire’s Premier Shopping and Leisure Destinations. Shop, eat, explore, and play at over 50 of the UK’s favourite stores and restaurants.

Grosvenor Shopping Mall is in the middle of the town. It has 49 stores and restaurants. Ideal for both shopping and socialising.

St Giles Quarter is also in the heart of the town and home to a number of individual stores with Abingdon Street being the main shopping area.

For a day shopping in a more relaxed out-of-town location try the Heart of the Shires Shopping Village.

Close to the Northamptonshire/Warwickshire border it offers individual, independent retailers with real character and shopping without the stress.

Working in Northampton

Northampton was once a major centre for shoemaking and other leather industries.

With the exception of a couple of schools, Northampton provides access to some very good schools.

Northampton’s only further education (FE) college is Northampton College, one of the largest FE colleges in the South Midlands.

Public Transport in Northampton

Northampton railway station has services southbound to London Euston and northbound to Birmingham and Crewe provided by West Midlands Trains.

Avanti West Coast also supplies two daily services to London.

East Midlands Airport, Luton Airport and Birmingham International Airport are all under an hour by road from the town.

Buses are mainly operated by Stagecoach Midlands from the North Gate bus station giving transport to outlying towns and village in the region.

Driving in Northampton

Getting around by car could not be easier.

Junctions 15, 15a and 16 of the M1 motorway connect the town with London at its most southern point and Leeds at its most northern.

Both the A45 and A43 link Northampton with the other major towns in Northamptonshire.

The A14 is close by to the north of Northampton.

This busy road provides an important link to East Anglia and a secondary route to the areas of the Midlands which are situated to the north of the town.

Northampton Property

Northampton’s property market is both diverse and affordable.

Considering it is a notable commuter town, its property prices may be a pleasant surprise to some.

Housing stock is plentiful with Northampton’s terraced homes being highly sought after due to their prices being so reasonable.
