    Why Move to Wisbech

Wisbech can be found in the county of Cambridgeshire and known as the Capital of the Fens.

Both a market town and an inland port, noteworthy for its fine examples of Georgian architecture.

Once a near-coastal town, Wisbech is now almost 12 miles from the sea, due to the silting-up of The Wash.

The River Nene has been the lifeblood of the town for centuries and home to plenty of wealthy shipping merchants in its heyday.

This is particularly so at the parade of houses along the North Brink, the National Trust property of Peckover House, and the circle surrounding Wisbech Castle.

However, although somewhat unchanged, and not exactly well connected, it does offer an old-world charm all of its own. Perhaps this is Wisbech’s biggest selling point.

What this lovely town offers are a historic town centre, excellent amenities, along with plenty of restaurants, pubs, and cafes, negating the need to travel far for anything.

Top Tips When Moving to or From Wisbech

Having been in the removal industry for many years, we at Lund Conlon Removers & Storers have a wealth of experience to share.

Buying a new home is both an exciting and anxious time. To help ease the inevitable rise in stress levels that will come along with it, we have prepared some “top tips” . We hope they will help to make the whole process a little less daunting.

    • Choose a BAR-registered removal company
    • Book a house move survey either remotely via a video call or in person. Your quotation for the move will then be issued.
    • Receive and approve your quotation for the move.
    • Inform your moving company of your move date as soon as possible.
    • Get organised well ahead of time. A “to-do” list will ensure nothing is forgotten.
    • De-clutter. You don’t want to be dragging unwanted “stuff” from home to home.
    • It is never too early to start packing boxes. Label them clearly.
    • Inform everyone who needs to know that you are moving. Doctors, banks, DVLA, energy suppliers etc.
    • Ensure all important items such as passports (particularly for international moves), are not packed.
    • Leave enough time to give the house a thorough clean.

We are proud to say that our cartons are made from environmentally friendly materials so can be fully recycled.

Bubble wrap and tissue paper are used to protect your fragile items.

Anything requiring specialist care, such as antiques, will be packed in made-to-measure wooden crates for extra protection.

You may be relocating to a new home a few miles away or traveling thousands of miles to an international destination.

Irrespective of the distance, our comprehensive knowledge of the packing process will mean your effects will arrive safe and sound

There is rarely a situation we have not encountered.

You can rest assured that you are in safe hands with Lund Conlon Removers & Storers.

Packing for a European or International Move

Lund Conlon has as many years of experience in moving people to Europe and Internationally as it has within the UK.

The packing process is largely the same for moves further afield, however, extra padding and covering will be used to minimize movement during transport.

As the packing commences, the team will complete a comprehensive inventory of all your belongings as each box is filled or item wrapped.

Our experienced pre-move surveyor will provide you beforehand with the customs regulations pertaining to your destination country.

Depending on where in the world your consignment needs to go, your effects could travel by sea, air, or road.

International consignments are generally containerised, and sent by sea.

Journey times vary according to country, but, it can take several weeks for your consignment to arrive at its destination countries port of entry.

It is vital that everything is secure and well packed as these large vessels often encounter rough seas.

Long road journeys are also subject to a lot of vibration which can sometimes result in load shifting. Protecting and securing the load tightly is  imperative.

Irrespective of how your goods are transported Lund Conlon’s first-class packers work hard to make sure that everything arrives in one piece.

    Insurance

At Lund Conlon we pride ourselves on delivering a first-class service.

However, no matter how meticulously our moves are carried out, there are risks involved which are outside our control. Transporting your consignment is a classic example.

We will pack and load your effects with utmost care and attention. However, there is always a possibility, however slight, that an accident could occur whilst they are in transit.

This is why we offer our customers insurance cover.

If you provide us with an insurance declaration of the value of your goods, the amount of our liability to you in the event of loss or damage to those goods will be a maximum of £50,000.

We can accept insurance liability for a higher amount, in which case we may make an additional charge.

If you decide not to take out any insurance with us, you may find your own house insurance has some form of cover for goods in transit.

Anything we move for you which is not covered by either your own or our insurance. In the event of any loss or damages, caused by negligence or breach of contract on our part.

Our liability to you will be assessed as a sum equivalent to the cost of their repair or replacement, subject to a maximum liability of £40 per item.

Just speak to our helpful surveyor when he undertakes your house move survey and he can clarify the process for you.

Wisbech has a very active town centre.

Most stores conveniently located in a compact area.

Many of the buildings lining and overlooking the main street have remained mostly unchanged for many years, except of course for their shop fronts and products.

One of the largest grocery stores is the Asda Wisbech Supercentre. You will find practically all you need to complete your main weekly shop here.

Alternatively, there is the Horsefair Shopping Centre, named after the town’s historic Horse Fair, which took place on the site between the 1600s and 1800s.

There are 26 stores here that cater to all requirements and budgets, and many are open 7 days a week.

    Two markets serve Wisbech.
